If you aren't ranked you'll either be stuck in groups with people as clueless as you (and you'll fail) or sit around waiting forever. What you need to do if you really want to get into PvP is join a PvP oriented guild that is willing to put time into teaching you stuff. Pay attention to what builds are used, why they are used, etc. Getting a few good PvP'ers that are happy to PvP with you on your friends list is also a good thing.

Once you get a taste decide on a main position, frontline (wars) midline (casters) or backline (monks).
Then guru and quitter have a plethora of guides. http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/h...t10105129.html http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/b...t10405748.html http://www.teamquitter.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=128 - look at the stickies, the more recent stuff is usually skill choice so not so relevant to a beginner. |

First look at what is commonly run in HA. No-one wants a PUG'ed ele carrying a bunch of horrible DoTAoE spells (e.g. Meteor Shower, Breath of Fire). Secondly, find out the role of each profession/build and each map layout. Observing is a good way to find out this information. Thirdly, get a VoIP program (e.g. Ventrilo, TeamSpeak, Mumble).
But most importantly, get into a PvP guild/make friends with people that HA a lot. Without this last point you are doomed to spend an eternity before you reach even rank 1. |

Can always form your own teams. Biggest problem with HA isnt the metality of other people (Not taking you), its the mentality of you yourself. (This isnt directed to you, this is in general)
If noone wants to take you, form yourself. When GW got released, and the first people entered HA (Called Tombs back then), you think they tried to tag along with other, higher ranked, people? No, there was noone else. Go to PvX wiki, and look for hexway. It??s by a milestone one of the easiest builds to play, and comes closest to ??the PvE experience??, so the difference between farming XX Area in HM and playing HA becomes next to non-existent. Just make sure you read the guide going with each bar on PvX wiki, and make sure everyone understand how he??s supposed to play his bar. In essence, this build is no different from lets say UW speedclear or MQSC. Everyone has been given a specific bar, and as long as everyone knows what to do, youll fare well. You dont need vent, you dont need coordination, and you dont need experience to win with this build, so you??ll get some fame eventually. Should be able to get you your R6+ fairly quickly. Sup dude, all these people kinda have points, joining a guild is the best way to get teams that will win, running something lame e.g. hexway is another way to make this all easier. Once u have got ranks then u can start to get more teams etc etc...
My advice for u, and i dont mean to be harsh with this, is to realise how bad u are. It took me ages to realise i was shit, and only when u realise this can u really begin to improve. Some simple things that will help u improve... 1) pick a roll: frontline, midline, or backline.... probs not backline cos its hard. Get good at it, take pride in being good at it, if midline, weapon swap after every cast, if frontline, fake out prots... whatever but GET GOOD at it. Go to QQ forums (google it) and there are guides to pretty much every class. Read the one for ur class and get good at it. 2) ur equipment is wrong... srsly its wrong, ur starting every match with a disadvantage.... 90% of 'high ranked' players play with the wrong equipment. Im gonna post a thread here listing the correct equipment for every class when i can be bothered... if not pm someone in game who u see on obs mode for top 50 guild and they will tell u correct equipment. 3) obs mode: watch the good players, not for their build, but for how they play. u will lrn a lot. Pz out peeps |

The only thing you can really control over getting into PvP is presenting yourself as best as possible. Don't be annoying, be polite, be receptive to criticism, and try to make an obvious effort in improving yourself. Play long enough without turning people off to you and opportunities will eventually open up.

Might be easier to start in Random Arenas as you seem a real noob so picking a build and using it there would help you up to speed with PvP. As everyone says a guild is gonna be the best way to jump into HA but make you sure have an idea of what the current meta builds are and can use the majority of skills on your PvP character

Might want to post in the HA section, you seem mainly focused on that.
